2nd-3rd June 2012 : Falkland War Commemoration weekend

Over 2nd - 3rd of June the museum held a ceremonial weekend to mark the 30-year anniversary of the Falklands conflict. The conflict had began on Friday 2nd April 1982 when Argentine forces invaded and occupied the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. It lasted 74 days and ended with the Argentine surrender on 14th June 1982 returning the islands to British control.

The museum had on show a number of exhibits which had an association with the conflict including our Vulcan bomber, the type made famous for its Black Buck missions from the Ascension Islands to bomb the runways at Port Stanley airfield and our combat veteran Argentine Pucara.

Crosses were laid on Sunday 3rd June at 11:00 to remember those who lost their lives
