Battle of Britain at Home Day -
Middleton St. George 17/09/1949
The static park mainly consisted of training aircraft from the Air Navigation School who had been in residence sine moving from Bishops Court in October 1947.
During the shows finale dummy paratroopers were dropped from several of the based Wellingtons. Tragically for those in NC430 one of the parachutes fouled the tailplane, jamming the elevators which resulted in the aircraft diving out of control into the ground. All six on board were killed.
