63Sqn's North East history
63Sqn was based at
Cramlington
between 31st October 1916 and 23rd June 1917. The squadron had
arrived from Stirling as a light bomber training unit to prepare for
the Western Front, but this was subsequently changed & the unit left
for Mesopotamia (now largely part of Iraq and Syria).
During World War Two, the squadron returned to the North East, its Mustang I's arriving at Acklington on a weeks detachment during June 1943
