Newcastle-upon-Tyne Trophy Air Race
The race for the Newcastle Trophy which had in the past been contested by airmen racing between London and Newcastle had a different theme in 1937 when both the start and the end of the race was from/to Woolsington. From Newcastle airport the machines flew to York, where there was a compulsory twenty-minute stop, then on to Harrogate, back to Newcastle on to Carlisle (another twenty-minute stop), to Longtown, and finally back again to Newcastle. A dinner-dance was held at the Royal Station Hotel after the race.
Early bird entries was £3 3s and had be received by June 16, late entries cost £5 5s. The race winner received £150
